This is part two of the adventure. For the past six weeks, an isolated page collected an assortment of links that I (and a friend) found relevant. The content behind these links was wildly disjointed and generally confusing. Nevertheless, around forty people discovered the page and tracked it. I thank those people, because without their interest, I would have dropped this project much earlier.
Here is my vision for part two of Moose Patrol. Each month this page will feature a theme. Posts on this page will explore various elements of that theme in terms of current events, cultural phenomenons, popular media, and published research. I have come up with a list of twelve themes for the upcoming year.
Some of you might be curious about the name of the website. While in boy scouts several years ago I was a member of the Moose Patrol. The patrol was a unit that had a primarily social function – generally scouts at the same class level formed patrols. A similar feat of self-organization happens in the first weeks of freshman college students living in dormitories. The students living nearest to one another form relationships since they find themselves in identical situations.
The internet is a crowded place these days. My hope is that the content available on this website will become distinctive and compelling. It should be an interesting journey for all of us.
